ServiceNow measures CMDB health across three pillars: completeness (are the right configuration items there, with owners and relationships), compliance (do CIs meet your data standards, including CSDM alignment and tuned Identification & Reconciliation rules), and correctness (is the data current, de-duplicated, and trustworthy). This free calculator gives you a directional score across all three in about two minutes, then tells you where to focus first.

Where to focus first

Want the real number? A fixed-scope Four Dragons CMDB Health Check assesses your actual instance against these pillars and hands back a prioritized remediation plan.

This self-assessment is directional, based on ServiceNow’s completeness / compliance / correctness health model. It is not a substitute for a data-driven assessment of your instance.

    How the score works

Each answer maps to one of the three pillars and scores 0, 50, or 100. Pillar scores are the average of their questions; your overall score is the average of the three pillars. Under 50 is Critical, 50–74 is At risk, and 75 or above is Healthy. The recommendations surface the lowest-scoring areas first, because in a CMDB the weakest pillar caps the value of everything built on top.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a good CMDB health score? On this scale, 75 or higher (Healthy) means the data can generally be trusted for change and incident impact analysis. Most enterprises that have not run a focused remediation land in the At-risk or Critical bands.

Why does completeness come first? Missing owners, discovery coverage, and relationships mean the CMDB is incomplete at the source. Compliance and correctness work built on incomplete data cannot fully succeed, so completeness is usually the first fix.

Is this the same as a CMDB Health Check? No. This is a directional self-assessment. A Four Dragons CMDB Health Check measures your actual instance against these pillars and returns a prioritized remediation plan.
